BYOB: The Downward Spiral Continues.

This is lovely. BYOB may very well be contributing to a suicide.

At least FYAD is known as the forum that's saved lives. Now, Jewoven may not be serious, and if he is, what he does is his own choice - but really, do those who encourage life-threatening behavior over the Web bear no responsibility at all?

Sadly, the Internet's involvement in youth tragedies is not an uncommon story anymore. Reinforcing that point is this blog's mission.

That is fucked, but at the same time how many times a day do people go online just to get attention by acting all suicidal? They make it look like it's not that serious by using it for attention. I think you also have to blame the people who do that instead of getting REAL help!

For most suicidal people, it's merely a cry for help & attention.

What more convenient place to look for support and attention than your computer? It's an easy outlet that desperate people run to - and they're not looking to be encouraged or mocked.

I realize there are dramawhores out there, but that doesn't mean you should assume dramawhoring whenever something like this happens. We're talking human life here.

True but I think if you're suicidal and really need help, call a friend or a family member and if you can't then call a suicide hotline.

As I follow this, I don't think he's serious, which does support your point; but I think both points still stand. The Internet isn't just a place for meaningless nonsense.

Yeah, it was fake. That little prick deserves to be banned under the Toxx Clause.

This conversation needs to be framed. Or placed at the front of every forum ever.

Guys, R21C wants to be serious for a moment and reach out to this person who may or may not truly have the desire to kill himself. Yes, user Jewoven is crying out for help and attention and what is the response of Somethingawful.com's "BYOB" posterbase? A callous disregard for human life. Those posters should be ashamed of themselves. This could be someone that may have nobody else to turn to but a forum on the internet, in a desperate plea for some kind of recognition or encouragement. Instead he gets recycled FYAD faire, catchphrases and over all rejection. People, this is the whole point of R21C: to expose the potential negative impact a forum like Somethingawful.com can have and to try and bring the fractured remains of Richard's once-proud empire, splintered by his own egotism and inability to structure Somethingawful.com after a proper customer service business model, together under one banner for a better internet. OUR internet. Jewoven is a shining example of our focus, since this thread proves my very strong and valid point that BYOB, and Somethingawful.com, are very very bad and also Richard please un-permaban my account.

Now here's a shitty comic about Ice Traigh.

If she wanted her account unpermabanned, do you really think she'd be going about it like this?

THINK, MCFLY
